A charity from the region is going national with it’s scheme to help pensioners who are most at need over the winter months.

Paul and Sue Newman, came up with the idea after deciding they wanted to pass on their winter fuel allowance to someone who was in greater need of it.

The winter fuel allowance provided by the Government gives everyone over the age of 60 money towards their fuel bills over the colder months.  The amount an individual receives is dependant on age and circumstances but with gift aid the allowance can be worth between £125 and £225.

The Leicestershire scheme is being supported by the former High Sheriff Rosemary Conley. Anyone wanting to find out more information, should visit www.125fund.org.uk
